With Kids in Mind

I grew up climbing trees and spending lots of time outside in southern Connecticut. As a young girl I also liked making things and learned to create my own designs. As a child of God, I loved reading the Bible and still do!

Now I have my own family of five children and (soon) five grandchildren. When they were younger, I enjoyed making things with my children, especially my two daughters.

I have made dozens of puppets and even hosted an educational TV series on puppetry, called Puppets on Parade.

Home Schooling Tips with Karen's Books

The Beatitudes

The book includes drama and art as well as word and logic puzzles to develop critical thinking. The cut and tell story fascinates children and inspires them to see what they can imagine and cut from paper! It also encourages children to serve others and reminds them of Christian values that are good for students.

Let's Chat About the Bible

Home school families have shared ways they use this book:

    Literature:

"The story is great for reading practice. We find all the verbs because it contains so many active verbs."

"The chat word and other words in the story give us vocabulary words and spelling words to learn."

"The chat questions make great essay questions.

    Art:

"We use the drawing prompt under the journal section for our art idea."

    Reference work:

"I have my children read the time tunnel and then look for that verse in their Bibles. I take some of the chat question ideas and have them search an encyclopedic index or concordance for that topical word. It helps them use references."
